International Association for Relationship Research

The International Association for Relationship Research (IARR) seeks to stimulate and support the scientific study of personal relationships and encourage cooperation among social scientists worldwide. IARR was incorporated in the State of California on April 2, 2004 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation, and resulted from the merger of the International Network on Personal Relationships (INPR) and the International Society for the Study of Personal Relationships (ISSPR). IARR sponsors two journals, Personal Relationships and the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, a book series called Advances in Personal Relationships, a newsletter, a biennial conference, and annual workshops and specialty conferences.

IARR has approximately 700 active members representing a wide range of disciplines, including communication, counseling, education, family studies and child development, gerontology, human sciences, psychology, anthropology, sociology, and philosophy. IARR is an international organization and makes a practice of holding its biennial conference in locations around the world, as well as mini-conferences on specialized topics. IARR draws members from numerous countries, including Australia, Austria, Canada, the Dominican Republic, England, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Africa, The Netherlands, the United States, and Wales.

  • Sunny Down Under in November: The Australian Psychological Society’s Psychology of Relationships Interest Group proudly announces its 8th Annual Conference to be held in Melbourne, Australia on the 15th and 16th of November, 2008
    • The theme of the conference is ‘Appreciating Relationships: Continuity & Change’. The Conference will include keynote speakers, exciting symposia, individual papers, posters, workshops, and professional roundtables. The two Interest Group Prizes will be awarded during the conference and time will be set aside for the AGM of the Interest Group.
