Call for submissions for special issue of PR
The Mind-Body Connection in Personal Relationships
Guest-Editor: Timothy J. Loving
Human Development and Family Sciences
The University of Texas at Austin

Personal Relationships is soliciting submissions for a special issue titled “The Mind-Body Connection in Personal Relationships.” The special issue is slated for the March 2011 issue of the journal, and will be guest edited by Tim Loving.

Over the past decade, we have witnessed an explosion in research addressing how personal relationships and health, or health-relevant physiological processes, are intertwined. For this special issue, we hope to compile a set of articles that represent cutting-edge approaches to understanding how the mind and body are connected within the context of personal relationships. Relevant research includes work that considers the effects of relationships and relationship dynamics on objective or subjective health outcomes as well as physiological outcomes. Further, given the growing body of work documenting the reciprocal relationship between physiology and relationship dynamics, we are also interested in receiving manuscripts that report research on the effects of health or physiological processes on relationship outcomes and dynamics.

Preference for final selection of articles to be included in this special issue will be given to those manuscripts that provide the greatest amount of breadth to the issue as a whole (in terms of theoretical frameworks and health/physiological indicators), with the expectation that the issue will serve as a useful reference for researchers for years to come.

Additionally, we strongly encourage submissions from disciplines that may not typically consider Personal Relationships as an outlet for their work. It is our hope that this special issue will introduce regular readers of PR to the outstanding work being conducted by scholars across the world that typically consider more mainstream physiology or health-related publication outlets (e.g., Brain, Behavior, & Immunity, Psychoneuroendocrinology, Psychosomatic Medicine, etc.).

Manuscripts should be submitted by March 31, 2010. Please submit your manuscript through the PR section of the Manuscript Central system (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/pere). In your cover letter please specify that your manuscript is being submitted for consideration in the special issue. All inquiries about the special issue should be directed to the guest editor, Tim Loving, via e-mail at: tjloving@mail.utexas.edu.
